Heard on the Hill Term 2, Week 4
From the Principal
Bonjour à tous, and Wanju
Sorry for the delay this week in publishing HOTH.
I have included a chart of our daily caseload. The “Interval 3” is a trend line. As you can see we are on a steep increase for daily case numbers. This is expected as we move towards a peak. Currently, we have 23% of students and 18% of staff have had or have COVID.
The numbers and this graph have been the trigger in moving from our Phase 1 now to Phase 2 which is the collapsing and combining of classes. This was a little rocky on Monday but an emergency meeting with the PCs quickly grabbed control again of the situation.
We have made an effort to reduce the duty areas and next week’s exams will be externally supervised to free staff for TR (instead of exam supervision) and marking. If the situation gets much worse we have a plan for Phase 3, but we expect to use the strategy that we have now until at least the end of next week.
Thank you so much for stepping up through this difficult time. Please be gentle on yourself. Our priority is just to have teachers in front of students with continuity of learning.

Expression of Interest – Literacy and Numeracy Role 2022
We are seeking expressions of interest for the Literacy/Numeracy Coordinator (LNC) for 2022. This is a 0.2 FTE position and may be linked to a teaching position up to 0.8 FTE. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in making a difference to students. New staff are more than welcome to apply for this position.
The LNC must strategize the following roles:
- Deliver OLNA intervention of identified Yr12 (priority) and Yr11 students
-
- Liaise with Senior School Manager to identify students (WACE Tracker)
- Develop an intervention plan that includes timing, resources, and personnel
- Coordinate personnel or provide instruction directly
- Delivery of intensive Literacy and/or Numeracy classes
-
- Liaise with English/Mathematics PCs
- NAPLAN data
-
- Analyse NAPLAN data at an individual and whole school level
- Liaise with LA PCs to plan support and intervention
- Individual student intervention program
- Take a lead role in the Whole School Numeracy Committee (to commence in 2022)
EOI will end Friday 20 May.
Survey My Class
It's that time of year again, when we offer teaching staff the opportunity to survey their classes to get some feedback. We offer this twice during the year, in Term 2 and again in Term 4.
The process is simple. During the dates the survey is open (30 May - 10 June) you send the link to your students. They click on it and off they go. It is a good idea to actually give them some class time to complete it. They can use their iPads to do the survey.
The survey data for each individual teacher remains private to those teachers. The combined data of all staff is compiled into a report for the Executive Team, which is simply another piece of data used to inform our school improvement plans.
Participation is not compulsory, but it can be a useful process to do for your own professional development.
If you have any questions about the process, please contact Kelly on 78902.

Workload Advisory Committee
The Workload Advisory Committee will meet this term to discuss any workload issues. Thank you to Renee Chapple and Luke Marinoni, our new staff reps on this committee.
If you have workload issues, please discuss them first with your line manager, as many of these can be resolved quickly and easily.
If you have an issue that cannot be resolved, please submit it via either the survey link provided here, or on the document below (which can also be found in the School Templates folder on your desktop.
