From the Principal

Slavin_Greg.jpg
Having been away from Bunbury SHS since early last year, I had forgotten how vibrant and busy this place is. Excursions are set for every day of this week and of course the parent night on Wednesday evening. Please go to your parent meetings well prepared. People talk considerably about the face to face contact that they have with us. It is the folk law that underpins our reputation. Be honest but kind. If an appointment is missed, please follow it up at a later date.

My contract finishes on Thursday afternoon and Mike returns from leave on Monday.

All the best

Gregory Slavin
Principal

Student Management Flow Chart

You can find the Student Management Flow Chart on the quick links in Academy.

It is important staff make contact with parents regarding student behaviour in class and seek HOLA assistance if required.

Social and emotional concerns or issues outside of the classroom can be directed to the relevant Head of Year.

Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation

All staff should have completed the Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation professional learning available through IKON under the professional learning tab.

Staff should also be familiar with the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework.

It is important we promote our school values, inclusiveness and where possible, incorporate Aboriginal Education into our classroom.

Noongar Word of the Week (Kristy Carriage)

Each week, Kristy will share with us a Noongar word of the week!

Boodjar
Boodjar means land, it means the ground, it means the earth. So the Noongar Boodjar is the earth, the ground, the land of the Noongars in the South West corner of Western Australia.

Bus Shelter Replacement

Bus_Shelter_Design_2.jpg

No doubt you'll all agree that our bus stop is long overdue for a refurbishment, so it's great to advise that the bus embayment area will be totally revamped during the October school holidays.

The length of the bus bay will be extended with new concrete hardstand, landscaping and new modern bus shelters that will incorporate artwork depicting our school. The existing bus shelters will be demolished commencing Week 10, Monday 20 September. Student access will be maintained during the week. The new shelters will be in place when students return Term 4. The landscaping and artwork installation will occur next term.

This is a joint venture between Bunbury SHS, P&C, Public Transport Authority, City of Bunbury and Dept of Education - Capital Works and Maintenance.
