Heard on the Hill Term 2, Week 11
A strong Alumnus with influential people is powerful to a school. They have the potential to raise significant funds, influence local, state, and national bodies and provide mentoring and support for our students developing careers. We already have some infrastructure in place to create this community. You might not know but here is some of it.
Bunbury Senior High School Alumni Facebook page
Bunbury Senior High School Graduates Society web page
The web page has recently been updated to include a new members log on page. We will be asking all our previously registered Alumni to join this page to receive regular Alumni news and information on events. Please forward any information that you have about Alumni and their achievements to me and encourage any Alumni that you know to seek out the web page and become a member. Your help in promoting the Alumni will benefit the students and the school.
At the halfway mark in the year the Executive and Leadership team are reviewing school data to provide feedback on the direction that we are going and the decisions that we make. For learning area teams and teachers I imagine that you are doing the same thing. It is a necessary part of sustaining a winning culture. While doing this, I urge you to keep your eye on our focus of working in partnership with the community and using the nearby city infrastructure to make our learning real, relevant and engaging for our students. Already we have some great examples that just continue to grow. The latest being an opportunity to give input into the City of Bunbury’s immersive lighting and sound installation locations to activate the city.
On Saturday night I attended the Eisteddfod Gala Event. It was a wonderful night that showcased the amazing performing talents of Bunbury. For the first time in a long time Bunbury SHS had a drama performance win its way through to the Gala evening performer list. It is great kudos for Stephan and the commitment that he has shown to growing drama and performance skills in our students. It is an area of the school that we are trying to grow given the explosion in creative technologies career pathways.
Have a great week.

Survey My Class
The opportunity to survey students is still open.
With potential class changes occurring at the start of Term 3 for Year 7 and 10 students. You may want to use this opportunity to have these particular year groups complete a survey for you now.

Collapsed Classes for Country Week – Supervision Rosters
Last week the Leadership Team decided to collapse the whole school timetable for Thursday and Friday this week. Friday is also the student reward activity sessions.
I will be sending out a roster for supervision, this will generally be during your normal timetabled classes with that particular year group.
At the beginning of each day, the Year 7-10s will attend a quick year meeting, then be placed into designated groups for the day. Each group will have its own timetable, and attendance checks will be done via paper copies. Please complete attendance checks at the start of each period and send down to Student Services with a student runner.
Please check the roster carefully for your supervision allocations.
Conference Accredited Training
A shout out to Almarie January and Lewis Williams who are currently completing their CAT training. This is an intensive and rigorous training program that will allow them to become accredited trainers for CMS conferencing with other staff.
They have lots of training sessions to complete and will require some staff to volunteer themselves as participants for Almarie and Lewis to hone their conferencing skills.
If you wish to volunteer, please contact Almarie or Lewis.
Reward Day Friday
We have the crew from Archery Skirmish coming down to run our reward day activity for eligible lower school students. Eligibility is based on regular attendance (90%+ and positive behaviour). Classes will be collapsed for the day. A list of eligible students will be provided to timetabled teachers. Students who are not eligible will remain in their scheduled class.
