From The Principal

Bonjour à tous, and Wanju

A strong Alumnus with influential people is powerful to a school.  They have the potential to raise significant funds, influence local, state, and national bodies and provide mentoring and support for our students developing careers.  We already have some infrastructure in place to create this community.  You might not know but here is some of it.

Bunbury Senior High School Alumni Facebook page

Bunbury Senior High School Graduates Society web page

The web page has recently been updated to include a new members log on page.  We will be asking all our previously registered Alumni to join this page to receive regular Alumni news and information on events. Please forward any information that you have about Alumni and their achievements to me and encourage any Alumni that you know to seek out the web page and become a member. Your help in promoting the Alumni will benefit the students and the school.

At the halfway mark in the year the Executive and Leadership team are reviewing school data to provide feedback on the direction that we are going and the decisions that we make.  For learning area teams and teachers I imagine that you are doing the same thing. It is a necessary part of sustaining a winning culture. While doing this, I urge you to keep your eye on our focus of working in partnership with the community and using the nearby city infrastructure to make our learning real, relevant and engaging for our students.  Already we have some great examples that just continue to grow. The latest being an opportunity to give input into the City of Bunbury’s immersive lighting and sound installation locations to activate the city.

On Saturday night I attended the Eisteddfod Gala Event. It was a wonderful night that showcased the amazing performing talents of Bunbury. For the first time in a long time Bunbury SHS had a drama performance win its way through to the Gala evening performer list. It is great kudos for Stephan and the commitment that he has shown to growing drama and performance skills in our students.  It is an area of the school that we are trying to grow given the explosion in creative technologies career pathways.

Have a great week.

En Avant
