NAIDOC WEEK
BSHS is celebrating NAIDOC Week from 8 to 12 August. The Cultural Inclusivity Committee needs your support with some of the preparations leading up to and during NAIDOC:
Week 3
Library - Paper Hand Colouring Competition 1-5 August (please encourage students to participate - there are prizes!)
Planning to do something in classes relevant for NAIDOC - resources available via SBS (see link)
NAIDOC WEEK 8 – 12 August
All week - Read about prominent Aboriginal people in the Daily Notices.
Monday 8 August
Period 2 - Teachers - all students will be making woollen bracelets in Aboriginal and Torres Islander flag colours during period 2 then wearing them to our Whole School NAIDOC assembly in period 3. (Teachers of period 2 will be provided with instructions and materials for each student to make a bracelet. It is a 10 minute activity.)
Period 3 - WHOLE SCHOOL ASSEMBLY Amphitheatre
Tuesday 9 August – Library - Guest Speaker – Maxwell Jetta (Period 1 - all Year 9s, Period 2 - all Year 7s, Period 3 - all Year 8s)
Wednesday 10 August – Face Painting during Lunch 1 & 2 on the front lawn
Thursday 11 August – Noongar Legends with Ms Fielder in the Library during Lunch 1 and Lunch 2
Friday 12 August – Art workshops with Summer Brinkworth - indigenous artist (in Art classes) and Lunch 2 music in the amphitheatre and a display from South West Aboriginal Medical Service.
