COVID-19 and Back to School

Welcome back to the start of the new school year. Unfortunately, we will start the year still under the spectre of COVID-19. To keep us all safe during this time I urge all parents to discuss with your child the fact sheet below.

The fact sheet explains the wearing of masks, vaccination requirements in special locations, like workplace learning or excursions. The health, hygiene and ventilation guidelines are also described.

The key to keeping everyone safe is;

  • Wearing a mask
  • Good hand hygiene,
  • Physically distancing where possible to 1.5m
  • Staying home when unwell and getting PCR tested
  • Being diligent about getting tested if in place of close contact

I want to assure you that the health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority and we will continue to follow the latest WA Health advice at healthywa.wa.gov.au.  If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Student Wellbeing and COVID-19

In times of worry and uncertainty, especially given the current context of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is important to maintain a positive sense of wellbeing in all aspects of life - physical, mental, social and emotional.

We understand that your child’s wellbeing can be influenced by what’s happening and the actions people take. At Bunbury Senior High School, we strive to provide all of our students and staff with a safe and supportive environment. You also play a vital role in supporting your family's wellbeing both at home and at school.

For families looking to access support for themselves or their child, please visit the Department of Education’s Covid-19 Wellbeing and Support website: https://www.education.wa.edu.au/wellbeing-and-support

Here you will be able to find support for children and young people, including general information to support their wellbeing and resources for children up to 12 years and young people 13+. You will also be able to find support for parents and carers, including information on how to support your child’s health and wellbeing, support services and resources, setting up a learning environment at home should the need arise and the parent Covid-19 helpline (1800 882 345).

Please do not hesitate to contact Student Services on 9797 8900 if you would like to have a further discussion about any additional or specialised support provision your child may require at school.

Take care and stay safe.
