Kaya and Bonjour to you all.
Mike is away for the start of the week and will return on Wednesday. In the meantime, I have decided to offer up some thoughts for the start of Term 4.
Welcome back to everyone and I hope you were able to find some moments to rest and recharge over the holiday break. I loved some of the sunshine that started to emerge, and I put some seeds into my garden ready for the warmer weather. I also enjoyed some quiet time to myself, reading some fantasy series.
We know Term 4 is just as busy as one, two and three, so no point pretending otherwise. Keep an eye on the planner, as the time does fly past very quickly. Give yourself enough time to deliver what you need to, assess what you need to, and be ready for reporting when you need to. If you fall behind, or get stuck, make sure you ask your curriculum leaders for support.
PIVOT will continue to be a focus for teaching staff. Many of you have already completed your first sprint, while others are starting this week. A key part of the Teaching Sprint process is to check in with others and review the impact of what you did. Your PCs will be coordinating this review.
Congratulations are needed for the following staff:
Cherie Fielder has won the SSTUWA Reconciliation in Action Award 2024 – whilst Cherie insists that she is just doing what everyone should do, her efforts in the area of reconciliation have been authentic, long-lasting and impactful. Cherie will receive her award at the State Council in November. Cherie will also be nominated for the national award – good luck Cherie!
Billie Larkman has won a fully-funded place at the Australian Educators’ Union Women’s Conference coming up in November in Melbourne. Billie has been asked specifically to offer her perspective about being an Aboriginal person teaching in Australian schools. We know that she will represent BSHS well and provide some useful insights at this event. Well done, Billie!
Have a great week everyone.
