Staff Wellbeing - RUOK? Any Day (Kelly Anderson, Deputy Principal)

R U OK? Any Day is coming up this Thursday, 12 September. The message this year is R U OK? Any Day because it recognises we need to check in with people on any day of the year. Why? Because the conversation could change a life. There are four simple steps to having the conversation:
1. Ask R U OK? (How are you travelling? You don’t seem yourself lately – want to talk about it?)
2. Listen (I’m here to listen if you want to talk more. Have you been feeling this way for a while?”)
3. Encourage Action (What do you think is a first step that would help you through this? Have you spoken to your doctor about this?
Do you know we have PeopleSense which is a free counselling service for the DOE?)
4. Check in (Just wanted to check in a see how you’re doing? Have things improved for you since we last spoke?)

It is usually the people who work with us every day who notice changes in our behaviour and who may be able to ask this question at a time when we really need it.
To help support these conversations, please check out the attached document.
