From The Principal

Kaya, Wanjoo,

Welcome back to Term 3.  After a busy term of travel last term, I stayed near home during the holidays and did a little fly fishing. I hope that the holiday was restful and enjoyable for you too.

Welcome also to our new staff, and, welcome back to Kelly Anderson who has been Acting Principal at Eaton CC last term.  I was really impressed, but not surprised, by the level of engagement by all staff in the PIVOT sessions yesterday.  It was really relevant, and I could see that you all thought so by your interest in looking for solutions to the difficult problem of supporting our Autistic students.

I look forward to the start of the term.  The Big Days In, begin on Tuesday.  It is our second go of the SEL program being concentrated into a two-week block.  Please ensure that the fidelity of the program is maintained during this important program. We are continuing to investigate a program for Year 9’s that will be called the Big Days Out. A program to build resilience and challenge.

As I mentioned during the SDD, Bunbury Senior High School was once again crowned champion school at Country Week this year.  Seventh year in a row and 10 out of the last 13.

Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast

                                                 Peter Drucker

Again, I want to remind you that we are successful because of our culture. It is defined by our beliefs, assumptions, values, norms, artifacts, actions, and language patterns that we all share. You will see it on Wednesday as we gather, in one of our rituals, at a wholes school assembly, to acknowledge the achievements of the students for Term 2.  This celebration, our acknowledgement, and the language around it is a powerful visualisation of what we value.

At the start of second Semester, it is prudent to pull out our big picture documents to ensure that we are maintaining our focus of progress in conquering our challenges and mastering our expectations for 2024.  I cannot recommend highly enough that you keep a hold of the, Our Focus 2024 and A3 School Business Plan summary foremost in your thoughts and actions.  I know that they are in mine.

I wish you all a great start to the term.
