Photocopying

In 2019 the school introduced the printing policy because we were spending an annual average of $101,000 on photocopying and printing. The impact was outstanding, reducing the cost by 43% to $58,000. In 2021 the policy was relaxed to permit more colour copying and printing. However the negative effect is that our costs are increasing again, to date we have spent $68,000 with a term remaining. At this rate we predict expenditure to be $90,000 for 2022.

Some printing facts and figures for the year to date:
• Pages printed/copied: 1.5 million
• B&W: 1 million
• Colour: ½ million
• Reams of paper: 3,000
• Copies per day: 10,000

30% of our copy count is colour. A page is deemed a colour page with even the smallest amount of colour, it could simply be a full stop. Colour costs 10 times more than B&W.
• Colour cost = 7.5¢
• B&W cost = 0.75¢

Please carefully consider the use of colour copying and opt for B&W instead, and consider alternatives to reduce the overall printing amount.

The printing policy will be reviewed. We may need to consider a quota system, applying annual maximum print/copy totals.
