Professional Learning - Application Process

Please be aware that the PL application form has been updated. This is still located in the School Templates folder on your desktop. Please make sure you use the most up to date form when applying to attend professional learning. Please also ensure that your PL form is submitted to me at least two weeks prior to the PL date/s where possible.

Note: To request relief for meetings on site, please use the Internal Relief Form, also in the School Templates folder.

Skills For Lifelong Learning - Tinkering and Making

The key to making is using authentic tools to create meaningful projects. It is a natural fit for the STEAM subjects, but other forms of making, such as researching and presenting a report on a topic, creating a documentary, or writing for an audience, also stretch those creative and critical thinking skills. The link below will take you to a digital magazine called The Tinker Times, which has some cool ideas for projects and provides some suggestions for how to structure these for students.

Makerspace in the Library

Paul Reynolds and I are currently in the process of setting up a Makerspace in the Library. It will have a range of typical construction materials and equipment (ie scissors, glue, cardboard), as well as some electronics components and we will continue to add to it over time. We hope to open the Makerspace soon, and it will be accessible by making a booking for your class or group via BookIt.

We would love to hear what you would like to see made available in this space. Would a 3D printer be useful, for example? What kinds of projects are you currently doing or want to do with your classes? What equipment would help you to facilitate your projects? Please email Kelly or Paul with suggestions.
