Notes from the Principal’s Desk

The end of the year is a time for self and organisational reflection.

What went well? Even better if?

It is a time to refuel, to understand the impact that the demanding work that we do has on us, and to recuperate. To assist your self-reflection, I have some questions about your wellbeing:

  • How are you?
  • How positive do you feel about your work this year? Are you satisfied that you made a difference? What demonstrated that to you? Could you have done more? What stopped you? What additional support do you need? Who are you going to discuss that with?
  • How did you help others to feel good about being here? Do students, if you are a teacher or assistant, willingly enter your space? How do you know? And, if they do not, why is that?
  • What are you planning for the next six weeks that will recharge your batteries prior to next year’s consumption?

PLEASE REFER TO THE DIRECTOR GENERAL’ S INSTRUCTIONS ON UPLOADING YOUR VACCINATION DATA – VITALLY IMPORTANT!

  • Further to the email sent by the Director General on 9 December 2021, please upload your vaccination evidence to HRMIS at least 14 calendar days before you return to work.

Refer to the instructions below:

  • upload your vaccination evidence or exemption

For your reference: CEO Instruction Entry Restrictions No1 which was attached to the email.

Thank you for having me here again. This is a remarkable place with the potential to once again be recognised as the best school in the State. Have a rewarding holiday.

Noongar News from our AIEO

Kaya
This week I would like to send thanks to all staff that have helped me establish the AIEO role this year. It makes my job a lot easier and meaningful when we can work together and create a safe learning environment for our Aboriginal students.

For 2022, I have some new projects, plans, ideas, activities and whatever else I can throw into the mix to ensure we move forward as a school embedding our Aboriginal Education strategies which will align with our Department’s Code of Conduct and the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework.

I will be needing support and assistance to establish a Reconciliation and NAIDOC working group. I know we are all busy but it’d be a great way to connect with our Aboriginal students and community and develop relationships, which in turn, creates a safe learning environment for our students and they learn to trust our staff.

We also have our Follow the Dream Hub being established and will greatly assist to create opportunities for our students to achieve their academic goals.

I would also like to remind staff that if you have any content or activities that you’d like me involved in, please don’t hesitate to send an email or drop in and see me at Studos. While I’m here… A massive shout out to the Studos team who have been so supportive and added some laughs to the mix as well. I appreciate it.

Lastly, thanks to our Principal Mike, deputies Kelly and Sharna, who have welcomed my knowledge and ideas this year and supported my role within the school. It’s all new but I feel we are working towards some positive changes.

Boorda!
