Heard on the Hill Term 3, Week 10

Bonjour à tous.
Well folks, we are in the home stretch. Only one week to go before we get a well-deserved break. I had to take some LSL recently to clear my backlog and I couldn’t resist posting a picture for Pete Barratt. I managed to get away for one afternoon to do some 4x4 driving, hiking and fishing in the Collie River region. Yes, that is a brown trout and I released it after the photo.
I try to say it as often as I can and I hope that you all know, I truly believe we have one of the hardest working and caring staff in the state. When I came to Bunbury SHS I was a little stifled from building relationships with everyone due to the COVID restrictions and ongoing environment it created. Do you remember the very awkward introduction video message? Time has allowed me to see you all at work and to get to know you all slowly and I hope that you are getting to know me also. Although, I’m sure Siobahn Maiden was a little surprised seeing me throwing people around at the South West Festival of Japan.
Testament to your hard work is the IPS review report that was returned to me last week. The report is a check on our self-assessment. It has validated our identified strengths and opportunities for growth. It is a glowing reflection of the great work that we currently do and are working towards. Well done everyone. Please have a read below and feel free to email me any questions or ask your PC’s for any clarification.
I wish you all a great last week of term and encourage you to refresh across the holidays.
Staff Shoutouts!
I would like to thank Greg Slavin for covering my LSL and the rest of the staff who stepped up to support him during my absence. I know that Mark Woodland certainly worked hard during my absence.
Can I thank Sharna Mason for the great job that she has done covering for Kelly while she has been recuperating from her surgery. Sharna did a lot of work in preparation for the IPS review. Kelly will return next term.
Nuts and Bolts
As you may have heard, all Western Australians aged 12 to 15 are now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine. The Department of Health has also announced it is offering allocated times for school students aged 16 years and over and education staff to access WA Health clinics.
More information about clinic locations can be found on the HealthyWA website.
Please find below a letter from the Chief Health Officer, providing details about the clinics. To attend the clinic, staff can walk in and bring a payslip as identification.
If you have any questions or concerns about getting vaccinated, please visit the HealthyWA website.
Thank you for your support in keeping our students, staff and community safe.
This week is all about the Year 12s!
Clearance forms for general students are being distributed at the Year Meeting in P4 on Monday 20 September. Students will be required to return these forms to Student Services by COB on Wednesday 22 September. Please ensure all school resources are returned. There is also the opportunity to ensure all academic requirements are completed before signing!
A big “Thank you” to all teachers who have returned information for reference writing. Information will be distributed to teachers who have been requested to write a reference.
The last Friday of term will commence with a Year 12 Breakfast. Please refer to the invitation below for details.
A Whole School Assembly will be conducted in Period 1. Please bring your class promptly to the Amphitheatre, assist with seating students and provide active supervision. Assembly instructions have previously been emailed to all staff.
