SURVEY MY CLASS

Feedback is crucial to being able to identify areas of improvement in our teaching practice. How are we going? How do we know? One way that we can find out is by asking our students.

All teaching staff are encouraged to use the Survey My Class with their classes again in Term 2. The survey window is open in Weeks 8 & 9 this term, from 7 - 18 June 2021.

The individual response data for each teacher only goes to the teacher.  No one in the Executive or Leadership teams can see individual data. We do get the collated data based on all of the teachers who participate.  This is important information for us, as it helps us determine what aspects of teaching practice we may need to support our staff with through professional learning etc. You can refer to this survey data as part of your Performance Management process, but it is not compulsory to do so. All you have to do to get this happening is to email the link below to your students for them to complete on their iPads. If you have any questions about the survey or this process, please talk to Kelly.

STUDENT SERVICES UPDATE

Winter is coming!

Student Services is noticing an increase in students out of uniform.
Some of the issues include:

  • Hoodies
  • Black shorts or pants that are either not Navy Blue or have no school approved motifs eg brand names/phrases

Some of the approved garments include:

Shirts

  • BSHS Navy Blue Junior Polo
  • Any other approved shirt with school crest or name (Eg. Country Week shirt, VASP/BEST and concert band shirts)

Jumpers

  • BSHS Rugby Jumper
  • BSHS Fleecy Jacket
  • Any other approved jumper with school crest or (Eg. Country Week shirt, VASP/BEST and concert band shirts)
  • “Hoodies” specifically not permitted to be worn at school

Shorts and Skirts

  • All shorts and skirts to be navy blue (no stripes, patterns, slogans or motifs).
  • Clothing worn under school uniform that is visible must be school colours. Eg white, navy blue, maroon.

It is critical that all staff continue to either ask students to go to Student Services or inform Student Services so that follow up can occur.

It is important that we use non-confrontational approaches when dealing with students.

Student Services deal with uniform issues in the following way:

  • During each even week the list of students who have received a uniform pass is reviewed
  • Those with 3 or more infringements have a letter sent home to parents and the student is spoken to
  • When a 2nd parent letter is required SS contact home and work collaboratively to resolve issues
  • Ongoing issues result in other responses/consequences

It is important that staff understand that Student Services staff will continue to work with students and parents to ensure consistent wearing of uniform.

Can we all be very vigilant in reporting uniform issues as winter settles in!
