From the Principal

self - Copy.jpg

Welcome back, I hope that you had a great holiday and that you are rested. I really enjoyed watching your engagement in the School Development Day activities. I hope that it was a good launch pad into the processes required for developing the 21st Century skills in students.

As I said on Monday, there is nothing like teamwork to get a job done. There is a real confidence knowing that all your colleagues are working towards the same thing and sharing challenges, frustrations, and successes. Please consider the information in Heard on the Hill and work with your learning area and whole school colleagues to advance the school improvement goals.

A lot of information was given during the School Development Day so there is little left to say but to wish you all well for the beginning of the term and remind you to look after your health and wellbeing. Term 2 is often busy with NAPLAN, ESTs, reporting, Country Week training, not to mention that it is flu season and 11 weeks long!

    Shared Instructional Framework

This term we will focus on the elements of the Bunbury Senior High School instructional framework and curriculum planning.

    Objective

Although we have really worked on the objective it is still the natural starting point.

    Clear and Concise

The learning objective is a clear, specific and measurable statement that articulates what the student is learning.

    Student oriented

A well-written learning objective should describe the learning NOT describe a teaching activity. It should be focussed on the student, describing a clearly observable product.

The role of Objectives in planning

The by-product of a good learning objective is that it helps to focus the teacher’s action to assist the student to achieve the objective. Objectives help the lesson planning and assessment process as the teacher becomes focussed on the specific learning.

    Microsoft 365

There is a district PL for Microsoft 365 at Bunbury PS. I really encourage anyone looking to increase their IT understanding to consider this PL. Please see the flyer below for more information.

    Upcoming Announcement

I received information today that Bunbury SHS has been chosen for an exciting initiative that will support the work that we are doing in being culturally responsive. I can’t say much more than that until after the Minister for Education’s announcement. Please keep your eye out for the announcement.
