Heard on the Hill Term 1, Week 10
From the Principal
Bonjour à tous, and Wanju
Before we get to Easter there is one more event to squeeze in. FOMO is real.
The Minister for Education will visit us on Tuesday. It is late notice but a great opportunity for us to meet the new minister. He will only be here for a short time – his calendar is full too. Our current plan is to meet and greet with the student leaders of the school, school board and school executive. He will then tour the gym and music “upgrades” before wandering around just before the parents arrive to meet some of you. We will try to put our best foot forward. If you see anything that needs “tidying” or can be presented better, please help out and “make the change” where you can.
At the assembly today I discussed the culture of high expectations and the accountability that we have for each other. This is an important trait to instil in our students. Who are we? What do we stand for? These and many more questions about our beliefs and values about teaching will be investigated next term during our SDD when we begin the work of unpacking the Teaching For Impact Strategy.
With Easter coming on Friday, it will be a short week. I hope that you have plans for the Easter break that include mind, body and spirit building activities. Enjoy the last week.

Nuts and Bolts
Today’s assembly was a little unsettled. I don’t think behaviour was malicious or intentionally disrespectful, but we can do better. It appeared that many of the classes in the middle section of the crowd did not have teachers sitting with them. Whether you have a class or not, in future can you please spread yourself through the crowd of students.

School Development Day - Term 2
Staff Survey 2023
Please complete the staff survey, if you haven't yet done so. This survey is conducted annually. All staff can respond. We use this data to inform our planning for school improvement. The survey will remain open until the end of the school term.
New Staff member - Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer
Most people would have seen Shannon Collard working in the school over the past few weeks, doing relief work as either an AIEO or as an Education Assistant. I am pleased to announce that she has won a permanent 0.4FTE AIEO position in our school. Shannon officially commences this week as our Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer.
Shannon will be based at the Hub (new name to be announced next term) over at the Library. Shannon will also be an important part of our Student Services team. Please congratulate her on winning this position and welcome her to our school.
Asbestos Removal - Vacation
There will be asbestos removal taking place over vacation and staff cannot be on site from Tuesday, 11 April until Thursday, 13 April. Please do not come on site as you will be requested to leave by contractors. Thanks for your cooperation.
Some staff have permission to work from the school library during that time.
Leave Notification and Processing
Can you please ensure you advise the relief coordinator if you are away sick via text message (not email).
It is vital that you process your leave on HRMIS as soon as possible after your absence. This should be processed within the same pay cycle to avoid audit findings.
House Coordinator 2023
The school is currently looking for Expressions of Interest from staff who would like to take on the position of House Coordinators for 2023. We are looking for two staff to fill the 2 roles. This position provides a great opportunity to take on a leadership role within the school and also comes with an SRA. If you are interested, please see the attached role description.
EOI will need to be sent to tina.nottle@education.wa.edu.au
Thank you all for your significant efforts this term, I hope you all get to rest and unwind over the school holidays.
